The Shepherd's Table
The Shepherd’s Table at St. John’s is a Ministry of Compassion and Caring in partnership with FOOD for Lane County, and hosted by The Episcopal Church of St. John the Divine.
The Pantry was founded in 2013 by a group of caring people who saw a need and found a way to serve it. The Pantry opened to serve its neighbours for the first time on Saturday 22 June, 2013. The Pantry’s schedule then was 9 a.m. to Noon, on the Second and Fourth Saturdays of each month.
It eventually became apparent that this schedule would cause The Pantry to only be open once a month in each of November and December, months in which food insecurity is more keenly felt, due to the cultural emphasis on food-centred family gatherings in the latter part of each of these months.
We were able to adjust our schedule to alleviate this deficiency, and are now open on the first four Saturdays of each month, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We are closed the fifth Saturday of the month. You can check out the pantry’s Facebook page for any holiday changes and updates. We are looking for good people who wish to join us in this nourishing ministry. If this is you, please join us on the first four Saturdays of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 2537 Game Farm Road in Springfield, just across the street from the Dari Mart.
