Welcome to St. John’s! We are an open community, welcoming people wherever they are on their faith journey.
We celebrate the gifts of God that empower us to engage boldly in the struggles of life and to care for ourselves and others with love, justice, and compassion.
Our belief is to connect with people and lead them into authentic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating environments where people are equipped and encouraged to point up, point in, and point out.
There is somewhere for everyone to get involved here at St. John's!
We believe that Scripture is clear when it instructs us to care for one another. By sharing these online resources with one another, we are strengthening our community by caring for the needs of our neighbors.

The Episcopal Church is both a ‘catholic’ and a ‘reformed’ Christian church, having emerged in America from the traditions of the Church of England following the American Revolutionary War in the late 18th century. We share many elements of the catholic tradition which are found especially in the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches. We are also reformed in that we embrace many of the protestant understandings of the Christian faith like those of many Lutheran and Methodist churches. The Episcopal Church is also referred to as theVia Media, or the middle way between Catholic and Protestant traditions, holding elements from both to enrich and nourish our faith.
The following areas of our church life are general descriptions of how we engage our faith and understanding in the church:
1. The Bible as the inspired Word of God is central in our belief and understanding of Christian faith and life.
2. The ancient Nicene and Apostles’ creeds are sufficient summary statements of our teaching and beliefs.
3. The sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Eucharist (communion) are central in our worship as faithful expressions of Christ’s grace-filled gifts to the world.
4. The place of Bishops as our primary source of church leadership in the historic succession dating from the time of the Apostles. Bishops who are elected, and elected lay leadership provide direction and accountability within our national, regional and local church bodies.
5. The use of the Book of Common Prayer to model and form our liturgy and worship as we incorporate the richness of our Christian faith and heritage.

The following was a letter to the Editor of the Register Guard:
To the person who left a message for God on the front of our church sign
Dear Person, from your message I see you have some big feelings about God. Our church is exactly the right place to explore feelings about God—big, little, anger, sorrow, questions, and the whole range of human emotions. We think our sacred stories from the Bible, particularly the psalms, encourage sharing how we feel about God with each other and with God. I’d be glad to give you a copy of the psalms if you’d like.
I do ask you not to spray paint your thoughts and feelings on our sign though. It makes it hard to read the sign and some find your language choices to be offensive. As followers of Jesus, we try to avoid this language although we aren’t always to be successful. One of our values is civil discourse when we talk with each other about God and even politics. We try to tell the truth and be respectful. It’s a challenge and worth doing.
Come and talk if you’d like, Blessings, the Reverend Nancy Gallagher
